waking up

have the day off work today
so i awake late,
and padded out to the lounge,
and there on the floor, was a TIME magazine,
and on the front cover there is just one image:
a huge wall of water
and one word:
tsunami.

and it made me sad,
because i thought it all had been a bad dream,

that my mind had made up the images of people being swept away in the churling waters.
