Illustration Friday's theme this week is Crowded.
I chose this self portrait as a 17 year old for it,
because the lines are so hectic and chaotic ~
they reflect the lack of peace in my life at the time.
I felt like an outsider, as though I was oddly out of place with the world.
I felt messy and as thought I didn't fit inside my own body.
And yet, I was jubilantly happy with that.
Peace has invaded my life these days.
I'm not so damn uncomfortable,
and the stretching, tearing of teenage days
has settled into sweetness.
